Horseshoe Bay Resort
Host of the IPT 2008 Tour Championships

The legendary members only Horseshoe Bay Resort has been has again been selected as host of the 2008 International Players Tour year-end tour championships. Horseshoe Bay, an exclusive playground of privileges for more than 30 years, will prove an exciting venue to host the largest IPT events of the year.

Horseshoe Bay Resort features three truly spectacular golf courses that roller-coaster through the hills west of Austin. Robert Trent Jones, Sr., renowned designer of all three, said it best when he described this Hill Country resort: "I know of no area, including those known for several courses, that have a more interesting variety of golf than that at Horseshoe Bay Resort. I rank this among the best in the world."

Everything is meant to be for the world-class golfer at Horseshoe Bay. Nestled in the heart of Texas, just west of Austin and surrounded by the Hill Country and Lake LBJ, (the only constant-level Lake in Texas), this is Texas' most ideal climactic region. Combined with the world-class Horseshoe Bay Resort, this is one of Texas' premier golf destinations with the Ram Rock course also being respected as one of the most difficult courses in the state of Texas.

2008 Horseshoe Bay Pro Series Open Championship Information

The 2008 Horseshoe Bay Open championship will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 18-20, 2008. This second annual championship will provide open competition for both Senior players age 47 and up and for any player, excluding current Nationwide & PGA players, who desires to enter the open pro event.

The event is open to both tour members and non-members alike. Total purses will be based on the final player counts with first place expected to provide winner checks approaching the $10,000 mark. Special cash optional games for Gross Skins and "Lame Duck" day money will be available providing additional opportunities for players to cash.

2008 Horseshoe Bay Senior Open Championship Information

The second annual Senior Tour championship features a 54-hole event certain to bring the best to the front. This is the final official Senior Tour event of the year and is open to members only. Entrants must be an IPT Senior Tour member and have competed in at least one Senior Tour event during 2008.

Competition will be held on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, Nov. Nov. 21-23, 2008 in conjunction with the 2008 Net Division Tour Championship. The 54-hole final will crown the Senior Tour champion with the largest prize check of 2008. Senior Tour members may also compete in the Net Division Tour Championship at the same time providing they have successfully qualified to enter.

2008 Net Division Tour Championship Information

2008 brings the seventh annual Net (Handicap) Division tour championship for IPT members. The 54-hole championship event will take place Friday through Sunday, Nov. 21-23, 2008.

As with all majors, competition will also be available for Scratch and Senior scratch division players. Entry fee is estimated between $525-$595 and includes all golf, prize fund and event related expenses. Saturday night entertainment and an awards banquet on the final day of competition are also included. Multiple cash optional games will also be available.

To date, this event alone has paid out over $250,000 to players with handicaps ranging from +1 to 23, demonstrating all players have an equal opportunity to win. The 2008 event is expected to generate a total purse exceeding $100,000! 2007 Champion, Tony Peterson, from Blytheville, Arkansas, brought home over $17,000 in total winnings competing at scratch with a zero handicap with the total EVENT payout exceeding $71,000!

The 2008 Net Division Tour Championship pays the winner a $20,000.00 GUARANTEED first place prize. In addition, a new “Flight Bonus” cash prize of $2,000 will be awarded, an increase of $500 over the 2007 award. Additional prize fund awards are distributed to a minimum of 30% of the field.

For flight bonus purposes, the field will be separated into two equal flights based on the overall handicap average of the field at large. The flight bonus will be awarded to the highest finisher in the flight not producing the overall event winner. This prize is in addition to his/her place position winnings from his/her finish overall.

Entry fee into the 2008 Tour Championship qualifying is only $95. This fee covers prize fund and other event related expenses and the player's first attempt at qualifying. Players attempting to qualify in other than a regularly schedule IPT tour stop are responsible for their green fee.

How do I Qualify?

The 2008 qualifying process has been simplified over that utilized previously. Players simply enter their desired qualifier as an optional game in any scheduled IPT tour stop. Players who enter the qualifying and also finish in the money in the event qualify to compete for the GUARANTEED $20,000.00 first place prize.

In the event a player fails to qualify, they may make additional attempts. A $45 qualifier re-try fee must be submitted prior to each subsequent attempt. On second and subsequent attempts players need only post a score of net even par to qualify.

Qualifying Exemptions & Eligibility

2008 qualifying exemptions will be awarded to each Net Division multi-round event winner. Exempt players must pay the appropriate qualifying fee and entry fee into the final. Players who have began the qualifying process prior to winning their exemption will be credited for any fees paid beyond the initial qualifying fee.

Any player entering the 2008 Tour Championship in addition to qualifying, must meet the following "Eligibility" requirements:

  • Be a 2008 tour member in good standing.

  • Compete in six single round events, not including stand-alone qualifiers, during the 2008 season.

  • Compete in one multi-round event during the 2008 season.

  • Post eight event scores during 2008 if no program is established in your immediate area.

Now . . . It's Up to YOU!

We are very excited about the 2008 Tour Championship week. This provides avid golfers of ALL skill levels the opportunity to compete in a PGA style large purse event. Total payout in the 2007 final came to over $71,000.00 with the winner taking home over $17,000.00!  Don’t miss out your opportunity to win the largest prize check available for handicap / net competitors in America!
