Frequently Asked Questions
What is the International Players Tour?
The International Players Tour (IPT) is a
non-amateur professional golf tour designed for both
male and female avid golfers who want to compete for
cash in a professional style tournament environment.
As
a International Players Tour member, you have access to a fair
and equitable tournament format in both handicap and
open divisions, where you can compete
for large prize money purses at top courses. Handicap
division players compete with the playing field
equalized through a strict handicapping system. Our
system is designed to protect players from sandbaggers
so all entrants compete against each other on an equal
basis.
Who is the IPT for?
All golfers, beginner or
professional, regardless of skill level with handicaps
ranging from zero to 36 who desire to compete on either
a gross or net score basis.
Why was the IPT established?
IPT was established to offer
professionally organized golf tournaments to its members
under our customized Tourney-Capä
handicap system. IPT established this program to allow
competitive non-amateur golfers the opportunity to
compete with each other on an equal basis for large
prize money purses.
What is the Referral Bonus Pool?
The “Referral Bonus Pool”
program provides a cash incentive to existing members
for referring new members to the IPT program. The bonus
is two-fold in that it pays an immediate cash bonus of
either $50 or $100 depending on your level of membership
as well as an ongoing cash bonus matching up to 10% of
your referral’s place money winnings each time he
(she) finishes in the money in an event.
For example, Bob refers a new
member, Joe, to the program. Bob is awarded an immediate $50 cash bonus
for referring Bob to the program. If Bob is a Senior
Tour member he receives a $100 cash referral bonus.
In addition, Joe wins $5000 for
first place in a two-day event. Since Bob brought Joe to
the program, and he's competing in the same event, he receives a pool bonus cash award equal to
5% of Joe’s 1st place finishing money of $5000. Bob is
awarded $250 based on Joe’s win!
In single round events Bob is
awarded a bonus of 5% if he didn't participate anywhere
the same day and 10% if he did. The 10% bonus is paid on
single round events no matter where in the system he
plays the same day.
What rules does the IPT use?
IPT tournaments are operated under
the USGA Rules of Golf and local rules of the host
facility. All participants must also abide by the IPT
Policies and Procedures.
Under which format are tournaments
played?
IPT tournaments generally are
individual stroke play events. One day 18-hole, two day
36-hole and three day 54-hole Major Money Tournaments
and other formats are utilized from time to time.
How much does it cost?
Entry fees generally range from $160
to $195 for regular weekly tour stops. Major events may
require up to a $600 entry or possibly more depending on
the size of the purse to be paid. Membership dues are
only $150 per year.
Can I play in major tournaments?
Yes. All players qualify to play in
major and national tournaments.
How will IPT establish my starting
handicap?
All players utilize a handicap in
IPT handicap tournaments. "New Players" will be considered
as such through their first four
tournament events. "New Players" must submit a minimum of four
scorecards and/or scores denoting course rating and
slope index before competing in their initial event. The
information provided will be utilized in calculating
handicaps for "New Players".
When are prize money winnings
distributed?
Checks will be issued within seven
(7) business days of the event conclusion with the
exception of purse payments in excess of $5,000, which
may be withheld for up to (15) fifteen-business days
before release.
Can women and amateurs compete?
Absolutely! IPT encourages both
amateurs and women to participate in tournament events.
Up to $750 in prize valued script will be awarded to all
amateur competitors. Women may compete for cash as
professionals if they prefer.
